Who are we?
Meet Alexa Barbier
Owner of Live True Yoga
Before I begin I would like to extend a warm welcome and invite you to join the Live True Yoga family. We are so pleased that you found us and we look forward to hosting you on a retreat! That said, let me introduce myself.
My name is Alexa and I have always been a curious seeker, a nature lover, an explorer and a natural teacher. I found yoga when I was 19 years old and being a rather spiritual person who was looking for balance and happiness, I fell in love with it!
I practiced for many years until I decided to do my first yoga teacher training at Arhanta Yoga Ashram in India in 2014.
I am origionally from Cape Town, South Africa but at the time that I did my teacher training I was living in France with my french husband and our two daughters Chloé and Ariane. (Our family has since grown, we welcomed our son Julien in 2020)
I started teaching classes at a well known yoga studio in Rambouillet just south of Paris where I trained in the Soleil d’Or technique created by Ajit and Selvi Sarkar.
I taught many classes per week growing as a teacher and as a person. During this time I did as many retreats and workshops as I could and expanded my knowlege of hatha yoga, aurveda, meditation and the human body. I did more teacher trainings in yin yoga, yoga therapy and restorative yin yoga.
I so enjoyed the immersive experience of yoga retreats that it was a natural progression for me to start hosting them for my dearest students. I was blown away by the feedback from my students and with much encouragement from my fellow yogis I decided to do a course in tourism and focus on hosting yoga retreats around the world!
Thus Live True Yoga was born.
Today we live in sunny Cape Town in South Africa. I host many retreats in South Africa because it is a country is that is so rich in culture and natural beauty. It is a country where one can experience the ties to our human roots. I love to learn and explore, so I also host retreats in Europe and India. In the near future I plan on expanding to even more destinations.
For me yoga retreats are not just for yoga classes. It is an opportunity to explore and to have fun. It is a time to learn and to grow as a person, surrounded and supported by like minded people. There is much laughter and joy with moments of peaceful reflexion and gratitude.
Strong friendships are created, and when the retreat ends we all feel like family.
And now I would like to introduce you to my real family...
It is certainly worthwhile making the introduction as they often accompany me on my retreats. These silly, fun loving and beautiful humans inspire me on a daily basis and without their on going love and support Live True Yoga would not exist.
They are a big part of the team, cheering me on with great enthusiasm!
